Ep. 055: The Cost of Poverty

Guest: Adam Fair, Prosper Canada

“In a country that is so wealthy and prosperous, how is it that we cannot find a way to share that wealth and well-being and that opportunity for all Canadians?”

That is the question posed by Adam Fair of Prosper Canada, an organization that is addressing poverty.

He goes on to point out the cost of poverty is extremely high in health care, crime, education and in the lost opportunity cost to individuals and the country as a whole. Fair says, “Our economy is built on all individuals across the country doing well. It’s not just a matter of a select few that have been able to build wealth and well-being. And so, I think, it matters to the strength of our economy, to our democracy, that everyone is participating, and contributing.”
